So I (Adam) have been meme'd now by two people. April and Nancy have created chaos in my life and so now I will begin with my songs of summer...
Here they are, 7 Songs of Summer in no particular order:
1) "Yellow Submarine": by The Beatles from the album Revolver. This song has created some great memories in our family this year. It is currently on my i-pod and has become a favorite of the kids who request it most every time we are in the car. Jayden loves the background noises of boy things, of Navy men shouting orders, "full speed ahead captain, full speed ahead..." Of course the chorus, "We all live in a Yellow Submarine..." is shouted at the top of all of our lungs as we travel down the Texas Highway in our Beige Ford Explorer.
2) "Sound of Melodies": by Leeland from the album Sound of Melodies; I saw this group last summer before we left for Houston with our youth group. This kid just turned 20, what an amazing voice, what an amazing sound, and what amazing worship. They just came out with their second album, check it out.
3) "Wonderwall": by Oasis from the album (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
Another British band on this list, in fact the song title actually comes from The Beatles own George Harrison's 1968 Album: Wonderwall Music. I rocked this song a couple of weeks ago on Rockband for the Xbox 360. Rockband is a video game that incorporates a full band (guitar, drum kit, bass guitar, and microphone) I was rocking out with two other 30 somethings, it was my turn as lead singer and of course I busted out with a 99% on Medium with this selection.
4) "There's a party in my tummy": by Yo! Gabba Gabba; I love these guys, Jamie can't stand them, watch the video and you can decide.
5) "Viva la Vida"- by Coldplay from the album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends; You've all seen this song in some media form, I enjoy Coldplay and their new album is decent, not fabulous, but solid. I am hoping that Jamie and I will be able to see them when they visit Houston in November. I caught them a few years ago with my friend Brett in Anaheim. I had 6th row center stage for that concert...and unfortunately Jamie wasn't able to be there.
6) "Starman"- by David Bowie from the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars Yes a very strange song, but this song keeps popping up on my i-pod and I push repeat quite a few times! I think Bowie is very underrated as a musician, now please know that when I listen to music I try not to get involved with the politics, lifestyles, etc...whether past or present. But the way that he belts the chorus of this song is should I say, Out of this World??
7) "Never Tear Us Apart"- by INXS from the album Kick One of the best songs from the one of the best 80's albums. Jamie and I got hooked on RockStar INXS a few summers ago which brought us back to memories of 7th grade when we were Jr. High Sweethearts. I love you babe!
I know you all are probably amazed that there are no U2 songs on my list right now, but hey it's been a few years since their last album. Last summer they came out with a new single "Window in the Skies" which has some of the most powerful lyrics I've heard from them:
" The rule has been disproved
The stone it has been moved
The grave is now a groove
All debts are removed
Oh can't you see what our love has done"
Rumor has it that they will have an album ready for the fall. Now I will have to work on my next Meme, thanks Nancy.
