Texas Forever!

Today we took a trip to the San Jacinto Monument with my parents and family... We Texans love our history, are proud of its legacy. This is the very land Sam Houston and about 900 other Texans surprised, fought and defeated Santa Anna and his troops in 1836.

Pretty Sarah - waiting for our turn on the elevator to head to the top of the obelisk.

Views from the top...

The USS Texas

The Battlefield

Downtown Houston is in the haze in the distance...

Then just across the street is where the USS Texas BB35 is permanently anchored. The USS Texas, commissioned in 1914, is the last and oldest battleship still afloat that served in both World Wars. It is now a museum.

That's Jayden, that little white spot...
My mom and I stayed behind with Norah. While we were waiting, we saw Jayden come out and
man the gun placements. It was at that moment when Norah realized we were left behind, and she wanted to go on that ship. She turned to me and said, "I want to go on the Titanic!"

It was a great day... and we ended with sliders at Little Bigs. yum.
