LEGO Party

Jayden planned his own birthday party this year. Really, he did. A few months ago he had this idea to have a LEGO party. He would invite a few of his friends and they could have LEGO building contests, eat party food, have a LEGO cake and then everyone could take home a LEGO mini set for a party favor. And that is exactly what we did. (except for the cake part -- I totally blew it on that one! I didn't realize it would take 5-6 hours to frost a cake correctly!! So I ran to Kroger, picked up a chocolate cake and threw one of his LEGO sea planes on it! Jay loved it and I lived to see another day!!)

yes, that is cake #3 this year!! Turning 9 deserves a lot of cake!

Some of the decorations... I cut his LEGO boxes into large triangles that were piling up in his closet and hung them like a pennant (or is it pendant?) banner. It was so cute -- and they will soon be decorating his bedroom, as well!!

The LEGO building contest... Jayden wanted the boys to build a ship or boat. He gave everyone 15 minutes to build and then they put them in the kitchen sink that was filled with water. Each one was allowed to float for 30 seconds and then Adam started piling LEGO bricks on. The idea was to try to make it sink... But did you know that LEGO's pretty much all float??

Even Grace and Norah had some pink LEGO's to play and build with!!

The party was a lot of fun -- Jayden has such good ideas and we love this one especially!!
