weather schm-eather

Last night we had a huge storm. it kept me up, pretty much all night. the lightning was like a strobe light - off and on, off and on, lighting up the whole room, even with my eyes closed i could see the flashes. i didn't hear a lot of thunder, but the rain was hitting the windows and it was very heavy at times. this morning the news said that in the worst parts, we got up to 11 inches of rain, that is in less than an 8 hour period. on top of all the rain we have had this weekend and yesterday afternoon. i commented on facebook that i thought maybe there was another hurricane coming towards us and they forgot to let us know!
the kids all woke up at one point and wanted in bed with us. i tried to put the girls back in their own beds a few times, but no luck.
the icing on the cake was - i got jayden up and dressed and fed and outside to wait for the bus. it didn't come. i thought maybe we missed the bus. our friend thomas called or texted adam and said their school was delayed this morning. so we checked out the website. our school was actually closed for the day. jayden was so happy, kissing and hugging his sisters. i felt a bit differently - but was happy that he was so happy.
i'm including this link (it says it's a video, but i can't get it to play.)
cars apparently submerged under water
(there are some amazing other pictures in there, as well. like the lady who is trying to get out of her car.)
check it out. (for those of you have visited us, this is the intersection of beltway 8 and I-10, right where memorial city mall is and the new memorial hermann hospital with it's crazy architecture.) so they think there is about 10 FEET of water under there! there is an ambulance, an suv and another vehicle stuck under there. isn't that crazy!! luckily, though, the stop lights are still working in that area. (that is sarcasm at it's finest).
here's a picture of adam's commute this morning:

well, that's it... just wanted to share the crazy weather we experience here in texas. nothing like i have ever seen and thankful we don't live in those flood zones!
