the alamo

while nana was here we loaded up the car for the day and headed to san antonio. we really wanted to see the alamo. so we waited in line for a little bit and then finally went inside. you can't take pictures of the inside, it's a shrine now to those who fought and died facing the mexicans in 1836.
but here's some cool pictures of what's on the outside.

i'm pretty sure they added the ice cream concessions after santa anna attacked and captured the alamo back.

the kids were checking out the koi that were swimming along the walk way. there were channels that fed from the san antonio river into the alamo.

we're thinking she either wanted to look like daddy or a spaniard/mexican.

and, in the end, we remember the alamo...

Wish we could have been there with you. Did we take you there in 1980?

we love the alamo! all except the rather HUGE bee that stung John on the arm while he was trying to pay for parking. it was a great day for us too. I don't remember the ice cream cones so that must have come much later. maybe in Johns honor!
