jayden received a texas reader award - he had to read 10 books and write reports on them
back in his classroom, he received a first grade completion award and his class voted him "best at math", among many, there was one for best dressed, longest hair (i think we'll shoot for that one next year) and most trips to the nurse's office! haha, we're so glad he got an academic award.
it feels so strange to have a 2nd grader. 2nd grade was probably my best/favorite year - and i remember so much of it. and it's also strange how normal it feels to have a second grader. like we have fought with every ounce of our beings and we are getting through things we don't like and enjoying the things we do like. getting to a place that there is relationship with our kid beyond the black and white. how we have all earned this time in our lives together. phew.

Congrats Jay--I am glad you didn't get the most trips to the nurses office! I think they should have given you the biggest smile award, too, though! We're so proud of you!
